The Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg has announced that its classes will resume across the university's campuses next week.

For the new semester, beginning in October 2019, the Confucius Institute is offering classes in the Chinese language, Chinese Calligraphy and Tai Chi.

Chinese language courses, which include general, business and children's Chinese courses, will each last twelve weeks during the 2019-20 winter semester. All levels are welcome but each class is limited to fifteen students. General Chinese courses are free for students at the University of Luxembourg. Otherwise, the fees are as follows: €100 (once a week) or €180 (twice a week) for General Chinese; €150 for Business Chinese (runs on Tuesdays); €100 for Children's Chinese (runs every Saturday for 10 weeks).

Chinese calligraphy courses will run every Wednesday from 18:00 for ten weeks on the Limpertsberg campus. Again, each class is limited to fifteen students. This is a unique opportunity to discover an ancient Chinese art and inspire creativity in a relaxing atmosphere. The courses cost €180 (not including €10 for materials) for employees and students of the University of Luxembourg, job seekers and asylum seekers (upon presentation of suitable documentation) and €300 (including materials) for everyone else.

In addition, the Confucius Institute is organising Tai Chi courses for both beginners and non-beginners. Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art that has become one of the world’s most popular forms of exercise. It uses soft, slow and continuous movements to train the body and focus the mind. During this semester, participants will have the opportunity to learn Tai Chi movements step by step in a relaxing environment. Beginners' classes will run every Friday from 11:30 to 13:00 in Belval and every Saturday from 10:00 to 11:30 in Limpertsberg. Non-beginners' classes will run Tuesdays from 11:30 to 13:00 on the Belval Campus. The 10-week-long courses cost €135 (not including €20 for Tai Chi clothes) for employees and students of the University of Luxembourg, job seekers and asylum seekers and €225 (including clothes) for everyone else. Classes are limited to twelve learners.
