Data released last week from FAIRFX travel money company has revealed Luxembourg to be the third cheapest country in the world to study.

Students in the Grand Duchy were found to spend an annual average of £4,739 on tuition fees and living costs, placing the country third out of the top 200 universities rated by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings published in September 2015, which placed Luxembourg 193 globally and 98 among European universities.

Luxembourg lay just behind Russia, where students look at an average of £4,450 in yearly expenses, and Norway, where £2,188 is generally required for study. Denmark was found in fourth place at £5,862. Luxembourg's neighbour Belgium, whose top university was ranked 35th out of the THE top 200, claimed 7th place with annual tuition and living expenses setting its students back £6,728 each year.
