Luxembourg’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Viticulture has reported that on Thursday 3 September 2026, Martine Hansen, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Viticulture, travelled to Austria for a working visit focused on issues relating to agriculture and viticulture.
According to the ministry, Minister Hansen visited the Vienna City Forestry and Agriculture Company (Forst- und Landwirtschaftsbetrieb) - the organic farm of Andreas Kleinrath and one of the largest farms in Austria - to discuss on-farm slaughter and sales, and the Blün GmbH aquaponics operation.
The minister also undertook a visit to the Franz Schwabl Winery, where the dynamics of the Austrian wine sector and the fight against the spread of flavescence dorée (golden yellowing disease) were discussed.
Moreover, during a lunch at the Luxembourg Embassy, political discussions took place with Ulrike Königsberger-Ludwig, Austrian State Secretary responsible for animal health, food safety and consumer protection. The topics discussed at the bilateral meeting concerned shared interests and challenges, in particular animal health and welfare.
