On Thursday 3 September 2026, the Maison du Grand-Duc announced that Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie, accompanied by Grand Duke Henri, will attend the funeral of King Harald V of Norway on Wednesday 9 September.
The funeral ceremony will be held at Oslo Cathedral and Grand Duke Guillaume will represent Luxembourg there in his capacity as Head of State.
King Harald V died on Friday 28 August 2026 at the age of 89.
The Maison du Grand-Duc reported that as a sign of mourning and in tribute to King Harald V, Grand Duke Guillaume has ordered that the flags at the Grand Ducal Palace and Berg Castle be flown at half-mast on Wednesday 9 September.
