European regional airline Flybe announced Wednesday that it will be enhancing its 2016 summer schedule with two new routes between Luxembourg and the English cities of Manchester and Birmingham.

The airline announced that one way fares will start from £29.99 including taxes and charges, from 1 September for Manchester journeys and 5 September for those travelling between Birmingham. The latter route will comprise daily flights from the West Midlands city, with twice daily weekday flights from Manchester and one flight a day at weekends.

Flybe described Luxembourg as "not only a key business destination" but also a "hidden European gem with dramatic countryside scattered with fairytale-style castles". The new routes will aim to highlight the Grand Duchy as an ideal region for English residents to explore - particularly for day trips - with flights leaving Manchester at 07:30 and providing ten hours with which to discover the country before touching back down in the north of England at 20:35.

"We are delighted to be adding Luxembourg to our Summer schedules from both Manchester and Birmingham," commented Vincent Hodder, Flybe Chief Revenue Officer. "Until now, direct flights to Luxembourg were only possible via London. We are opening up yet another key business and tourist destination to travellers outside of the M25 corridor and look forward to welcoming all our new customers on board in September."
