Terumo BCT, a global leader in blood component, therapeutic apheresis and cellular technologies, today announced that it has entered into a distribution agreement with B Medical Systems, a Luxembourg-based leading manufacturer of professional biomedical refrigeration and storage solutions for safe transport and management of blood products.
Under the terms of the agreement, Terumo BCT will act as the exclusive authorised distributor of B Medical Systems biomedical refrigeration products in the United States and Canada.
Terumo BCT will market B Medical Systems blood bank refrigerators and storage freezers, as well as contact shock freezers designed to fast-freeze plasma. (B Medical Systems contact shock freezers are not currently available in the United States and Canada, but availability is expected later in 2016.)
B Medical Systems contact shock freezers provide rapid freezing of plasma in 30 minutes or less, depending on freezing volume, thereby creating operational efficiencies for customers due to the fast availability of plasma for further processing.
