Luxemburgish film director Alexandre Espigares, who, in 2014, won an Oscar for Best Short Animated Film for Mr Hublot, received a warm welcome at the world premiere of his first feature film entitled Croc-Blanc on Sunday 21 January 2018 at the Sundance Film Festival, the leading independent film festival in the United States.

The film, inspired by Jack London Croc-Blanc's famous work, is in official competition in the "Kids" section.

Croc-Blanc ("White Fang" in English) is a co-production between Luxembourg (Bidibul Productions - Lilian Eche and Christel Henon), France (Superprod) and the United States (Big Beach), with the Luxembourg share representing 40.4% total funding, Film Fund Luxembourg having supported the development and production of the work.

Entirely made in 3D, this feature film - adapted for the first time as an animated film - combines the techniques of motion capture and key frame.

"Luxembourg's animation is back on the scene with this cinematographic masterpiece, which confirms the great talent of Alexandre Espigares, and I am very proud of the work of our animation professionals, who have shown great once again, the excellence of Luxembourg cinema!" Film Fund Luxembourg director Guy Daleiden told Sundance, accompanied by Luxembourg director Alexandre Espigares, who said "While 'Croc Blanc' was still underway the film was selected at the Sundance Film Festival on presentation of a working copy, a selection that, for the artists who have worked on the film for the past three years, is tantamount to a reward, Sundance being one of the most prestigious international independent film festivals. To screen a world premiere allows somehow 'Croc Blanc' to play in the big leagues and gives the film an international birth that it might not have had otherwise. Needless to say, I was looking forward to seeing the film on the big screen for the first time with a real audience!"

The film will premiere in Luxembourg on 9 March at the Philharmonie in live-cinema with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra led by Gast Waltzing. Tarantula Distribution will distribute the film in Luxembourg from 28 March 2018.
