Aide à l'Enfance de l'Inde et du Népal (AEIN), in partnership with Luxembourg non-profit organisation Stand Speak Rise Up! (SSRU), will host a screening of Devi, a documentary by award-winning filmmaker Subina Shrestha, at Kinepolis in Luxembourg-Kirchberg on Friday 28 March 2025 at 18:30.
Devi is a documentary which shines a light on the experiences of Devi Khadka, a former rebel warrior, mother and survivor of sexual violence during Nepal’s civil war. The film details how, despite the conflict officially ending in 2006, Devi continued to fight, not only against the trauma she carries with her but also against a system that seeks to erase the atrocities she and countless others endured. Determined to break the silence, she embarks on a courageous journey to demand justice for all survivors.
According to AEIN, Devi is “more than just a film; it is an opportunity to engage in an essential conversation about justice, resilience and human rights” and serves as “a powerful tribute to the strength of survivors and a reminder of the urgent need to end impunity.”
The film is presented in Nepali with English subtitles.
After the screening, there will be a discussion with the subject of the documentary, Devi Khadka, and filmmaker, Subina Shresth. This will then be followed by a networking event.
Entry to the screening is free, however, registration is mandatory. Registration can be completed at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeVxlWLBUwwvCdVErPCQToyogbFEd7kwlxy9tIM1-dd_8OuAA/viewform
