Luxembourg's Commission for Quality, Fraud and Food Safety has issued a product recall, following an Auchan recall notification, that affects the bulk sale of Paella and thawed raw shrimp due to the presence of Vibrio vulnificus.
The specific unbranded Paella product was on sale between 17 - 24 August 2022; the unbranded Thawed Raw Shrimp product was on sale between 16 - 24 August 2022.
Food-borne illnesses caused by Vibrio vulnificus may occasionally result in mild gastrointestinal disturbances in healthy individuals, and also in severe non-intestinal disturbances (generalised infection/sepsis) in susceptible persons or those with pre-existing chronic conditions. In addition, skin infections are likely to occur from pre-existing wounds when handling the products.
The products have been on sale in Luxembourg by Auchan La Cloche d’Or (fishmonger department); sales by other operators cannot be excluded.
