The Sunset Cinema Luxembourg City open-air cinema programme kicked off on the evening of Wednesday 13 August 2025 with a screening of the heartwarming animated film Flow at the Parc Central behind d'Coque in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.
Hundreds of people of all ages gathered in the park on picnic blankets and beach chairs (either their own or rented on-site) on this warm Wednesday evening. Before the main film, visitors were treated to live music, followed by a screening of A Walk into the Afterlife, a short film by University of Luxembourg alumna Jiyun Jeong, a warm-up dance and a quiz about the European Union (with event partners the European Parliament Liaison Office and the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg). Food trucks serving snacks (including popcorn) and drinks were also present on-site.
Flow (Straume) is a heartwarming and visually stunning animated 2024 film by Latvian filmmaker Gints Zibalodis. There is no need for subtitles due to the lack of dialogue. The touching story follows the tense journey of a cat and other animals trying to navigate life in a seemingly post-apocalyptical world.
