The Luxembourg government's Commission for Quality, Fraud and Food Safety has issued a product recall concerning Devos & Lemmens light mayonnaise (-80% kcal).
The product recall was initiated due to the discovery of the presence of the allergen "milk" not being mentioned on the label. It concerns the 450ml size, with batch #2203902401 and a date of minimum durability (MDD) 10/11/2022.
The concern is based on "milk" not being mentioned on the label as some people are intolerant / allergic to it and, according to the law, all such ingredients must be listed on the product labelling.
A food allergy is an abnormal reaction to a substance (called an allergen) in food. Following ingestion of this substance, sensitive individuals may experience various clinical symptoms (e.g. skin and eye conditions, digestive and respiratory problems).
People who are not allergic or intolerant to milk are not affected by the recall and can consume the product without restriction.
The Devos & Lemmens (D&L) product is distributed widely and on sale throughout Luxembourg.
