Luxembourg's food safety authorities have announced the recall of various sausage products from the La Provençale brand due to possible salmonella contamination.
The following products have been recalled from stores and butchers in Luxembourg:
- La Provençale brand "Assortiment Saucisses Barbecue", five vaccuum packed barbecue sausages, with expiry dates between 16/04/2021 and 23/04/2021 and lot numbers 520520 and 534534;
- La Provençale brand "Bierstumpen Mini", four mini sausages with skin, each weighing approx. 50 g (190 g in total), with the expiry date 25/04/2021 and lot number 513166;
- La Provençale brand "Mettwurst", three mettwurst sausages with skin, 340 g, with the expiry date 25/04/2021 and lot number 513218;
- La Provençale brand "Mettwurst Cocktail Maison", house cocktail mettwurst sausages, 80 x 15 g, with the expiry date 25/04/21 and lot number 530494.
The products in question have been sold in Luxembourg through supermarkets, petrol stations, butchers and other grocery shops.
Salmonella can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, fever and headache within six to 72 hours after consumption. These symptoms may be aggravated in young children, immunocompromised individuals and the elderly. People who have consumed the product in question and who display these symptoms are advised to consult a doctor.
