The Grand Ducal Police have announced they conducted extensive alcohol level checks between Friday 4 and Saturday 5 July 2025, in Frisange and Dudelange.

The operation took place at the request of the Public Prosecutor, in accordance with Article 12, paragraph 3, subparagraph 8 of the amended law of 14 February 1955 on traffic regulations on public roads.

The police reported that between Friday 4 July and Saturday 5 July 2025, from 22:45 to 00:15, police officers conducted roadside alcohol breath tests on Lëtzebuergerstrooss in Frisange, testing 309 motorists using a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any clear signs of intoxication. Eleven tests returned positive results. Officers issued six on-the-spot fines and filed five formal reports. They also immediately withdrew two driving licences.

In Dudelange, on Saturday 5 July 2025, between 01:00 and 02:30, police carried out a similar operation on the Route de Luxembourg. Officers tested 249 motorists using the same preliminary breath test procedure. Fifteen drivers tested positive. Police issued five on-the-spot fines and withdrew four driving licences at the scene.
