Cactus supermarket has raised €13,138 through the sale of its 'Natur Brout' bread range, a cheque for which was handed to the natur & ëmwelt Foundation Hëllef fir d'Natur to help preserve precious natural habitats in Luxembourg.

The 'Natur Brout' project was first started in 2010, involving Cactus donating 10 cents to the Foundation for every 'Natur Brout' bread sold. The first two years of the collaboration were dedicated to protecting the habitat of otters, whilst the following two enabled the acquisition of land with high biological value, favourable to orchids.

In 2014, to mark the 20th anniversary of organic products at Cactus, the supermarket decided to continue its support of the Foundation's projects through the sale of organic seed bread, Bio Natur Brout, slowbaked by Pains & Tradition. Since spring 2014, donations have gone towards preserving reed beds, extremely rare environments which harbour flora and fauna and ensures the survival of certain species such as the reed warbler bird.

With 131,379 loaves of bread sold in 2015, Cactus was able to present a cheque for over €13,000 to natur & ëmwelt Hëllef fir Natur Foundation. The project will continue until the end of 2016.
