Due to the religious day of Assumption, Saturday 15 August will be a public holiday and shops in the Grand Duchy will therefore be closed.
The Holy Day marks the ascension of the Virgin Mary into Heaven, ending her life on earth. This is often celebrated among those with a Catholic, Orthodox and sometimes Anglican faith with a feast.
Whilst shops may be closed, in certain regions of Luxembourg the day will be honoured with a Léiffrawëschdag, a folklore festival bringing together locals to partake in a drink and festivities.
