This year's Octave (Oktav) came to a close in Luxembourg City on Sunday 10 May 2026.
The final day was marked by a pontifical Mass renewing the consecration to Our Lady of Consolation (Virgin Mary) on Sunday morning, followed by the traditional closing procession through the streets of the city centre in the afternoon.
The Octave of Pentecost is an annual religious celebration held in honour of the Virgin Mary, patron saint of both the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and its capital. While it originally lasted eight days (hence its name), the Octave now spans sixteen days between Easter and Pentecost.
Each year, thousands of pilgrims travel to Luxembourg City to take part in the tradition.
One of the highlights is the pontifical Mass on the final Sunday, attended by members of the Grand Ducal family. The closing procession sees the statue of Our Lady carried through the city's streets.
