On Monday 13 January 2025, Rev William Porter, a Methodist minister from the United Kingdom, was present in Luxembourg City as part of a prayer walk across Europe.

Speaking to Chronicle.lu, Rev William Porter explained that this stop in Luxembourg was "part of a prayer pilgrimage in 51 cities, all the capital cities of Europe". He began his journey in April 2024, with the aim of visiting every European capital and meeting Christian leaders, and "to pray for God's blessing on the cities of Europe and particularly for people in these troubled days to find hope and find faith".

Last weekend, the prayer walk took him to Paris (France) where he met with Christian leaders. On Monday, he was in Luxembourg and, on Tuesday 14 January 2025, he will walk with church leaders in Brussels (Belgium), before heading to Monaco on Thursday 16 January 2025. This will complete this month's mission trip. "We're doing fifteen mission trips over the course of a year, to visit all the cities," he confirmed.

"The goal for me is personal. I feel that God has led me to carry a cross as an act of prayer, an act of witness," he told Chronicle.lu, adding that "people maybe don't understand the cross, but they see it as a positive sign, of love, of healing. That's the hope: as I walk, that I meet people in the cities and share something of hope, something of love, something of peace".

He was joined in Place de Clairefontaine in Luxembourg-Ville on Monday morning by Rev Geoff Read, Chaplain of All Saints Anglican Church (Luxembourg), and other clergy who, like Rev William Porter, have been praying "for the renewal of the Christian faith".
