On Friday 11 September 2026, the City of Luxembourg (VdL) announced a special family day to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of Tuffi, the mascot of the Lëtzebuerg City Bibliothèque's activities for young people.
Taking place at Cercle Cité in Luxembourg-Ville on Saturday 26 September 2026, from 10:30 to 18:00, the celebration will offer a free multilingual programme for children and families.
The programme, with activities centered around reading, creativity and discovery, will begin at 10:30 with a reading by Roland Meyer of Dee klengen Här Bellibimbam an de Monsieur Lugaru, followed at 11:30 by Suza Kolb reading from Emil Einstein and Haferhorde.
At 12:00, Anne-Marie Herckes will lead a creative workshop for children aged six and over, for which prior registration is required via tuffi@vdl.lu. Birthday cake and refreshments will be served at 14:00.
The programme will continue at 15:00, with Rachel Bright reading The Turtle Who Turned the Tide and The Lion Inside. It will conclude at 16:30 with Pauline Discry reading Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's Le Petit Prince, accompanied by a German Sign Language (DGS) translation provided by the Centre de Logopédie.
Throughout the day, visitors will also have access to a family reading corner and a multimedia area where children can listen to audiobooks.
Tuffi was created in 2011 by Stina Fisch. The mascot's name was selected from more than 500 suggestions submitted by children as part of a competition.
The Lëtzebuerg City Bibliothèque currently organises a reading workshop for children aged four to ten every Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30, except on public holidays. The reading sessions are followed by a craft or drawing activity. More than 1,000 children took part in these activities in 2025.
The library, located at 3 Rue Genistre, will remain open according to its usual Saturday hours, from 10:00 to 18:00, on the day of the anniversary celebration.
