The Council of Christian Churches in Luxembourg (Conseil d'Eglises Chrétiennes au Luxembourg) recently announced the appointment of Ulrik Møller as its new President.
Ulrik Møller, who has served on the council for several years, will assume this leadership role with immediate effect. He brings with him "a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to promoting unity and cooperation between the Christian communities in Luxembourg".
The Council of Christian Churches in Luxembourg represents various Christian denominations in the Grand Duchy and "promotes dialogue and mutual understanding, guided by the principles of openness, respect and common spirituality". As President, Ulrik Møller will be tasked with leading initiatives to strengthen the role of the council within the Christian community and to encourage inter-church dialogue on "important issues" for modern society.
"In today's world, we cannot overestimate the importance of building bridges not only between Christian denominations but between all faiths and communities," stated Mr Møller. "We create stronger and more compassionate societies through understanding and cooperation. I look forward to working together to strengthen these ties in order to promote mutual respect in Luxembourg."
Ulrik Møller, representative of the Danish Church in Luxembourg, succeeds the Vicar General of the Catholic Church in Luxembourg, who previously held this leadership position. A long-standing member of the Council of Christian Churches in Luxembourg, Mr Møller is believed to bring a "unique perspective" to the council's ecumenical efforts and his appointment highlights the importance of cross-religious participation and interfaith dialogue.
With a professional background in the financial sector plus experience managing charitable and non-profit organisations, including in his role as a board member of the International Bazaar (Bazar International ASBL), Mr Møller is said to be "well placed" to guide the Council of Christian Churches in Luxembourg through future initiatives and opportunities.
In his new role, he will be jointly responsible for initiatives such as the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which will take place in January 2025; this is considered a key event for the council and the Christian community in Luxembourg.
