From Sunday 5 December 2024, the Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL, Luxembourg's national railway operator) is introducing a timetable change which is being implemented in collaboration with railway companies in Europe.

The second Sunday in December traditionally coincides with the entry into force of the new timetables of railway companies in Europe. According to CFL, they developed their 2024/2025 timetable making a particular effort on cross-border services to and from Longwy and towards Germany.

Additional peak-time trains to/from Longwy

From 15 December 2024, customers on the Luxembourg – Bascharage-Sanem – Rodange – Longwy route (and vice versa) will benefit from two additional round trips during peak hours, from Monday to Friday:
- In the direction Longwy – Rodange – Bascharage-Sanem - Luxembourg: 1st departure at 05:50 from Longwy
- In the direction Luxembourg – Bascharage-Sanem – Rodange - Longwy: last departure at 19:34 from Luxembourg Station

Since 2 September 2024, cross-border workers in the Longwy urban area who have a valid transport ticket and proof of employment in Luxembourg can park for free at the new P+R Grand Longwy (640 parking spaces), located in the immediate vicinity of the station.

Optimised connections to Luxembourg from Rumelange

The CFL has also made timetable adjustments to reduce waiting times for customers travelling to Luxembourg and from the Rumelange – Noertzange route. At the Noertzange train stop, waiting times have been reduced from nine to four minutes.

Customers coming from Luxembourg (Luxembourg – Noertzange connection) have five minutes (instead of three) to catch their connection to Rumelange, in order to allow them to transit via the Noertzange underground in complete peace

For more information on timetable changes, see cfl.lu, the CFL mobile application or contact the CFL Call Centre on tel: 2489-2489.

A shorter journey time for customers of the Gare Lorraine Express

Good news also for customers wishing to reach the Gare Lorraine TGV. The journey from the Gare de Luxembourg (bus station) is shortened by ten minutes. Note that the “Gare Lorraine Express” will no longer serve the Howald station as the majority of customers benefit from the departure from the capital.

Five additional stops served west of the city of Trier

From 3 March 2025, customers travelling to and from the Trier region (Germany) will benefit from a new regional train service. Thanks to the reactivation of the "Weststrecke" along the west side of the Moselle, the journey to/from Wittlich will now be served on this new route, which serves five new stations: Trier-Zewen, Trier-Euren, Trier-West, Trier-Pallien and Trier-Hafenstraße. For customers travelling to or from Konz, a regional train (RB 87) serving all stops between Trier Hbf and Luxembourg will be provided during peak hours.
