The Year 13 students from St George’s International School prepared to enter the adult world in the early evening of Friday 26 June during their official Graduation Ceremony which took place at the fabulous Hotel Melia in Kirchberg.
They began their celebrations with a champagne reception which was followed by poignant speeches from the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Mr Turner, the School’s Principal, Dr Barkei, the Secondary Head Teacher, Mr Fleet, the Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Moody, and the Head Boy and Head Girl. The students were then formally presented with their Graduation Diploma. Every student in this year group is either taking up an offer of a place at university or taking a gap year before entering academia.
The celebratory evening continued at The Goya Restaurant inside the Hotel Melia with a formal four course dinner for the students and members of staff. There was a final farewell at 22:00 to the Year 13 Students who will be embarking on their academic and professional careers in the autumn.
The event was held in a relaxed and friendly format allowing students, their parents and their teachers to mingle and reminisce on their experiences at St George’s. The alumni association will keep the graduates well-informed of developments and progress at the School and they will be invited to a number of events at the School in the coming years.
St George’s International School Luxembourg is located in Luxembourg-Hamm and caters to approximately 700 students, with 230 in the Secondary school.
