The Minister of Health, Lydia Mutsch, received the Italian ambassador HE Rossella Franchini Sherifis on Friday last giving a presentation on the basic principles of the Luxembourg health system as well as the priority issues of this moment. In this context, the challenges in the field of health care in general, such as tobacco control, obesity and the organisation of the hospital sector, were discussed.
The Ambassador showed a keen interest in new technologies and innovation, notably in the field of health, and was particularly interested in research carried out by the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), the Integrated Biobank of Luxembourg ( IBBL) or the Luxembourg Center for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB).
The need to strengthen the links between research and hospital management was emphasised.
From January to September 2016, as Head of Delegation to the Arctic Council, the Ambassador coordinated the Arctic projection of Italian foreign policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation - Directorate General of the European Union, in collaboration with the Scientific agencies, research institutes and high technology companies.
After a diplomatic career in the United States, Russia and the Balkan countries, Ambassador Rossella Franchini Sherifis took up her post in Luxembourg on 19 September 2016.
