Luxembourg's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, will be in Addis Ababa this weekend to attend the 26th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU).

The AU Summit is being held in the Ethiopian capital under the theme of '2016, African Year of Human Rights with particular focus on the rights of women'. Minister Asselborn will be in attendance as part of the Grand Duchy's aim to strengthen its political-diplomatic, economic and cultural relations with the African continent, beyond its traditional partnership for development.

Minister Asselborn is expecting to use his time at the headquarters of the African Union to make contacts with senior African officials, and will be holding a number of bilateral meetings with his counterparts whilst there in order to address major regional and international current affairs.
