On 7 July 2017, Luxembourg Minister of the Interior Dan Kersch presented the campaign to recruit 50 professional firefighters to work full-time for the Administration of Emergency Services.
Last Friday, in the presence of the Mayor of the City of Luxembourg, Lydie Polfer, Minister Dan Kersch officially presented the recruitment campaign “50 Emergency Service Jobs Available” (Au secours, 50 jobs à saisir) for full-time firefighters, as part of the reform of the rescue services.
Minister Kersch stated: "With this campaign, we particularly want to reach firefighters and ambulance volunteers who are ready to help the citizens day and night. We are therefore looking for people with a great sense of responsibility, a team spirit and a strong commitment to citizenship.”
One of the aims of the reform is to ensure better coverage of relief efforts for the entire population through the creation of the Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS). As soon as it is set up in 2018, these agents will be taken over by the public institution, which will offer prospects for professional development and continuous training throughout their careers.
Once the training has been completed, the 50 selected candidates will be assigned missions based on personal assistance, firefighting and technical accidents or incidents.
