With the 104th Tour de France passing through the Grand Duchy on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 July, Mondorf-les-Bains in the south of the Grand Duchy will be a hive of activity, with Stage 4 due to leave the town on the 207.5km trek to Vittel in the Vosges in France.

Mondorf-les-Bains is the stronghold of the famous cycling Schleck brothers. The investments, commitment and interest of the municipality for this exceptional event have, since 12 March, seen the most beautiful years of the Tour de France being traced in pictures in the heart of the town. On foot or by bike, you can discover the best shots of photographers Alex Marchi and Serge Waldbillig by taking a photographic walk of almost 3 km. On 20 May, Mondorf also hosted the Schleck Gran Fondo cycle race.

Charity Lunch

On Tuesday 4 July at 13:00, CASINO 2OOO will serve a lunch for nearly 1,000 people on an unusual setting of a gigantic table in the shape of a bicycle. And th Casino2000 chef will prepaqre a giant cake measuring 2.20m x 1.10m, honouring the last 100 winners of the Tour. The meal is being organised for the benefit of the SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde charity which, since its creation in 1974, has supported numerous projects: the construction of villages and kindergartens, schools, Medical and social infrastructure, as well as family strengthening and emergency assistance programmes.

The meal is being offered at €50 per person (appetizer, starter, main course and dessert, drinks included). The total proceeds (estimated at more than €50,000) will be fully donated to SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde.

Another meal is being served on Saturday 1 July at Casino2000 from 19:00, costing €32/person, in the presence of Andy and Frank Schleck.

Bicycle Art

Five artistic bicycles were produced by five artists from the Greater Region: Iva Mrazkova, Jacques Schneider, Stick, Yves Blin and Marco Weiten. These original creations are exhibited at CASINO 2OOO and will be auctioned with all funds raised to be donated to the Luxembourg association SOS Kannerduerf.

A series of other events are planned throughout the week-end at Casino2000.

For those interested in getting a glimpse of the tour, the "tour caravan" is set to arrive in Mondorf-les-Bains on Monday 3 July at around 18:00 in the car-park at Casino2000. On Tuesday 4 July, the caravan is due to start at 10:10, with the 4th stage of the race set to leave Mondorf-les-Bains at 12:10.
