On the sidelines of the International Transport Forum's 2017 Summit held in Leipzig from 31 May to 2 June, the Minister for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, François Bausch, learned that following tests conducted by the Kraftfahrtbundesamt (KBA), it appears that other models of the Audi manufacturer would be equipped with a "defeat device", in order to reduce NOx emissions during the homologation tests.
According to the KBA, these are the Audi A7 and A8 (EURO5) models, equipped with a V6 TDI engine and the AL551 gearbox and the Audi A8 (EURO5), equipped with a V8 TDI engine and Of the gearbox AL951, built between 2009 and 2013.
Emissions from the models in question have been certified by the National Society of Certification and Approval (SNCH) in Luxembourg, while the complete homologation has been issued by the KBA. As of Friday, the SNCH has been informed by the KBA, while inviting the SNCH to authorise the implementation of the adaptations in the context of a recall action on impacted vehicles. The Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructures will support any recall action by the concessionaire.
It should be noted in this context that, as of 6 February 2017, Luxembourg lodged a complaint against unknown parties in the context of the diesel scandal, claiming Luxembourg is the victim of fraudulent activities which led it to issue certificates Which it would not have issued if the tests had not been distorted by the presence of a defeat device. The Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructures has stated that it supports any initiative to clarify this matter and will continue to provide any further information that the judicial authorities have come up with in order to enable them to carry out their investigation.
