The "Skoda Tour de Luxembourg" cycling race will start at 13:00 from Place Guiillaume II this Thursday finishing up at Albert Unden in Limpertsberg on 4 June. As a result, there will be some restrictions for traffic in the city on race departure and arrival days as well as for the prologue tomorrow.
The City of Luxembourg say they will take the necessary precautions to minimise restrictions on traffic and public transport and thank residents and motorists for their understanding.
Tomorrow, the prologue will start at 19:00 at Boulevard Roosevelt, moving on to the Passerelle — on the bicycle lane — Boulevard de la Pétrusse, Rue de Prague, Rue St. Ulric, la Montée du Grund, la Rue Large, la rue de la Boucherie, la rue du Marché-aux-Herbes et la rue de l’Eau before arriving at Rue Notre Dame at the Bierger Centre. The last rider is scheduled to arrive around 21:03.
During the prologue, the route taken by the riders will remain closed to all traffic (from 18.00 hours) and parking will be prohibited along the circuit (from 14.00 hours).
Rue Notre-Dame (between Rue de l'Ancien Athénée and Rue du Fossé), Rue du Fossé and Rue de l'Eau will be closed to traffic from 15:00 in order to prepare the site for the arrival at the Bierger Centre.
Access for residents, residents and suppliers will be possible until 17:00. Parking will be prohibited in the streets mentioned above from 12:00.
For the city’s buses, the following stops on Ligne 19 will be suspended from 18:00: Al Avenue/A-Z, F.D. Roosevelt, Hällepull, Cathédrale, Kasinosgaass et Badanstalt Quai 2. A replacement stop will be set up for Ligne 19 (Hamilius quai 1) .
As for Ligne 23, the "Stadgronn" service will be suspended from 18.00 hours.
On Thursday, the official start at 13:00 in the Rue du Fossé will take the riders by the Côte d’Eich, la Place D’argent, la Rue Auguste Laval et la Route d’Echternach, where the riders will leave the city towards Waldhaff.
The riders will be supervised by the Grand-Ducale Police.
Rue Notre-Dame (between rue de l'Ancien Athénée and rue du Fossé), Rue du Fossé, Rue de l'Eau and Rue Sigefroi will be closed to all traffic between 11:00 and 13:30.
On Sunday 4 June, for the conclusion of the fourth leg of the race, the riders will enter the city via Rue de Reckenthal and then cross the Rue du Rollingergrund, Rue Albert Unden, Boulevard Pershing, Rue Lucien Wercollier, l’Avenue J. Sax, Rue Fresez, Avenue de la Faïencerie and Rue du Rollingergrund.
The circuit used by the riders will remain closed to all traffic from 13:00 to 16:00 and parking will be prohibited along the course at the indicated locations from 12:00 to 18:00.
Albert Unden Street, Feltgen Boulevard and Pershing Boulevard will be closed to traffic between 10:00 and 18:00
Parking will be prohibited from 07:00 to 18:00.
The municipal bus service will be altered between around 13:00 and 16:30.
Between the city centre and Limpertsberg, Ligne 2 will be diverted to Avenue du Bois - Henri VII street, temporary terminus along the Victor Hugo Hall. Ligne 30 will flow through boulevard Joseph II - Boulevard de la Foire - Avenue du Bois - rue Henri VII. There will be a temporary terminus along the Victor Hugo Hall.
For the return from Limpertsberg to the city centre, Lignes 2 and 30 will be diverted from the temporary terminus by avenue Victor Hugo - Avenue de la Porte - Neuve (line 2) and by Boulevard de la Foire - Boulevard Grande - Duchess Charlotte (line 30).
