Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg officially launched its national awareness campaign "Lëtz 'Step to Fairtrade" with an exhibition at the Gare, which is being followed by a host of actions across the country, emphasising that even the smallest changes made every day can have a huge effect in the fight against the injustices perpetrated by global markets.

The exhibition was created by a group of Media Writing BTS Students of the Lycée Classique in Diekirch around the idea of bringing about a more equitable future. The result is an exhibition presenting dialogues between consumers, distributors and producers of Fairtrade products. It will be at the Gare de Luxembourg until 8 May before touring the country.

New for this year's campaign, Fairtrade is launching 25 Fairtrade Picnics to be organised across Luxembourg between 12 and 14 May. People can load up their picnic baskets with Fairtrade food and drinks, register their picnic, and hold it wherever they choose.

Fairtrade partners are also mobilising for other actions around the country, including Velosophie on 14 May — a bike ride with a Fairtrade picnic on the way —La Maison Lessure is offering promotions on Fairtrade certified cotton workwear, while Delhaize will be promoting Fairtrade products, Biogros is offering organic ice-cream made with Fairtrade products, government catering company, Restopolis, is working on certifying 63 establishments as Fairtrade zones.

In addition, Bettembourg will invite children to discover the Bettembourg World shop to choose ingredients to prepare a Fairtrade picnic that they will all enjoy together, and Hesperange proposes an awareness day for  staff with a picnic in the communal park.

In the municipalities of Betzdorf, Biwer and Mertert, the De Leederwon association invites the general public to take a Fairtrade picnic and join the picnic that will be organised in the Parc Mertert  at 11:30 on 13 May.
