The Autism Foundation Luxembourg has organised World Autism Awareness Day, to be held on Saturday 1 April 2017 at the Place d'Armes, starting from 11:00

The Autism Foundation Luxembourg will be holding World Autism Awareness Day, a day established on 2 April by the United Nations since 2008, this Saturday. The theme of this year’s event is "Together, Break the Barriers of Autism".

A stand dedicated to innovation and new technologies will present the LuxAi QT robot, which encourages children to socially interact, through the use of games and stories. QT helps teach children what emotions are and what positive social behaviours to adopt in everyday life.

As blue is the colour of autism, the public is invited to dress in blue to support the foundation’ cause. In this context, 500 biodegradable blue balloons will be released at 16:00, and more than 40 public and private buildings will be illuminated in blue on the nights of 31 March to 3 April.

Other activities planned for the day include workshops, children's games, virtual reality, tablet applications, concerts and shows.

Monique Post, who has Asperger's Syndrome, will hold a lecture at 14:00 in the Cercle Cité auditorium entitled "Thriving with autism; My story" in English.

Whilst one person out of 150 is affected by autism, there is still little known about it. This is the reason the Autism Foundation Luxembourg aims to raise awareness.

Those wishing to support the foundation by making a donation, should do so via BLUXLULL LU33 0080 3041 1520 2001, quoting "JMSA".
