The Ville de Luxembourg has announced that, following an exceptional authorisation being granted, the Kockelscheuer pond will be open for open-air ice skating from today, Wednesday 25 January, to Sunday 29 January.
The Kockelscheuer posd is situated beside the P&R car-park and the ice rinks. Open-air skating will be permitted between 12:00 noon to 17:00, during which time firemen from the ville de Luxembourg will be on site to ensure the safety of all concerned.
Skating is usually forbidden on the Kockelscheuer pond throughout the winter in Luxembourg due to concerns that the ice may not be thcik enough to support the weight of one or more people on its surface.
