The Fonds culturel national has announced that it awarded 39 scholarships in 2016, adding up to a total of €87,250.

The funding offered by the Fonds culturel national has been used to encourage and support young as well as established and professional artists in their studies and training, as well as to promote mobility, and strengthen and emphasise the importance of Luxembourgish artists abroad.

The grants financed by the Fonds culturel national, as well as by the Fondation Michelle, Fondation Biermans-Lapotre, Bicherfrenn, and private donors, helped fund 39 projects last year.

In 2016, the managing committee of the Fonds culturel national met thirteen times to examine 339 applications from professional artists or organisations in the cultural sector. 262 of these applications were given funding, increasing the total amount to €512,191.50.

In 2017, the grant and residencies programme will be developed and extended to other artistic fields. The main aim is to allow artists a new work environment for their creativity.
