On Thursday afternoon, Luxembourg police officers visited a stand at this year's Schueberfouer funfair in which pum-action shotguns are used to fire corks at target discs, similar to clay pigeon shooting, for fair-goers to win prizes.
However, when the police officers checked the stall-holder's papers, they established that he was not in possession of a gun license or special approval, which is required in the Grand Duchy to operate such a stand. Such weapons are classified as being under the control of the law on weapons.
The police officers informed the public prosecutor who ordered the confiscation of the weapons (5 pump guns) and 3 cases of ammunition.
As the stand holder could no longer fulfill his work, he decided to close the stand.
