The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) announced on Monday the start of a research collaboration agreed with the French family-owner group, Roquette.
Roquette holds a global reach specialising in the processing of plant-based raw materials to produce solutions tailored to the pharma, nutrition, food and selected industry markets. Roquette processes corn, wheat, potatoes and peas and forms one of the five leading starch manufacturing giants worldwide. Founded over 80 years ago, the Group now operates in over 100 countries, has a turnover of €3.3 billion and employs 8,000 people internationally.
The collaborative project with LIST will aim to formulate a polymer resin from a bio-sourced molecule produced by Roquette, mobilising LIST's competences in composite materials. The results will represent a competitive advantage to enlarge the available solutions for biobased composites synthesis.
