SPORTUNITY a.s.b.l. is a Luxembourg-headquartered not-for-profit organisation founded in 2013. SPORTUNITY uses sports as a tool for improving lives of marginalised and disadvantaged youth: by bringing sports to refugee shelters, by supporting athletically gifted children from underprivileged backgrounds and by involving athletes in community work in order to promote sports and healthy behaviour among young people. The educational and motivational program “Meet an Athlete” was developed by SPORTUNITY with an idea to have athletes teach children important life lessons and encourage them to make healthier life choices by personal examples and real life stories. The programme was launched in 2015 with two guest athletes mentors: triple world boxing champion, Hassan N’Dam, and Olympic medalist and world champion in sprinting, Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie.
