After the Opferambulanz project was launched to provide better forensic documentation of violence, a meeting was held on Friday 13 May 2016 during which the Minister of Equal Opportunities presented the 2015 report on violence.

Presented to the Government Cabinet, the report was developed by the Cooperation Committee between Professionals in the Field of the Fight against Violence. The document contains the collection of statistics on domestic violence presented by the various bodies constituting the Committee, namely the prosecution of the district courts in Luxembourg and Diekirch, the Luxembourg police, the Service d'assistance aux victimes de violence domestique (SAVVD) and the service that supports perpetrators of domestic violence (Riicht eraus).

In 2015, the Luxembourg police conducted 802 interventions. The number of assaults with or without time off work amounted to 217 (39.9% of listed offenses). The number of death threats recorded were slightly down from 53 in 2014 to 42 a year later. 62.4% of victims in police interventions were female and 37.6% male, remaining similar to figures from 2014. As for perpetrators, 66.66% were male, showing a slight increase from the 65.7% in 2014.

In 2015, public prosecutors from the district courts in Luxembourg and Diekirch authorised 242 explusions, of which 222 of the offenders were male (91.73%). 198 expulsions, corresponding to 81.81%, concerned individuals in a relationship or an ex-couple.

The statistics from the SAVVD revealed that 72.31% of the victims were from a Member State of the European Union. 26.45% of the victims were of Luxembourg nationality and 30.58% of Portuguese nationality, whilst third country nationals constituted 27.27%. In all, 42 nationalities were represented, of which 14 were within the European Union.

In 2015, Riicht Eraus treated 333 cases, including 242 as part of an expulsion (72.67%). The remaining 91 cases, or 27.33%, included clients who were volunterily directed to the service as well as those who had received a warning, a judicial review, a suspended sentence probation or a court youth injunction (legal obligation). 92% of perpetrators who consulted the Riicht eraus were male.

Last year, Riicht Eraus received people from 46 nationalities, the majority of which were Luxembourgish (33%) and Portuguese (27%). French and Cape Verdean nationals accounted for 6% of perpatrators, respectively. Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian and Montenegrin nationalities together constituted 4.5%.
