Dunlop announced Wednesday the launch of the Sport Maxx RT2, its new Ultra-High Performance (UHP) summer tyre.

The company stated that the new tyre was developed in line with its 'Forever Forward' philosophy to create "exciting driving experiences" and is said to deliver faster track lap times as compared to its predecessor, Sport Maxx RT2.

An independent TÜV Süd Benchmark Test determined that the tyre performed a 1.3% better lap time than the average of four leading competitors on a wet track and 4.1% better on dry, as well as marking a 5.6% improvement in the wet circle test.

Key features of the new tyre include an Evolutionary Tread compound designed to provide maximum grip; large outer shoulder blocks for enhanced cornering grip; short-braking blocks as a means of reducing braking distances; and enhanced road feedback and steering precision provided through an ultra-tensile breaker cord.

"This is the perfect Ultra-High Performance tyre for demanding drivers who are seeking ultimate driving experiences," Alexis Bortoluzzi, Goodyear Dunlop Marketing Director Consumer Europe, stated. "And the test results confirm we have achieved a strong position in the UHP segment."

The size line-up ranges from 17 inch to 21 inch and 80% of the sizes were made available in March 2016.
