MyScienceWork and DeepDyve have announced their cooperation on a project to make millions of scientific publications available to the public for a reasonable price.
Many scientific articles are today only available via an expensive pay model. However with the opportunity arising from the collaboration between MyScienceWork and DeepDyve, the MyScienceWork users will now be able to access a database with 12 milion academic and scientific articles. This database will be affordable and will allow the reader to rent and read full-text articles instantly via their browser.
MyScienceWork boasts a library of 30 million scientific publications and hosts a community of 500,000 researchers.
“The publications in our database come from thousands of leading scholarly journals from Elsevier, Springer-Nature, Oxford University Press, Wiley-Blackwell and more,” said William Park, DeepDyve CEO. “Since 78% of our visitors come from small to mid-sized enterprises (SMEs), DeepDyve is an essential resource for these scientists, engineers, and information professionals. With DeepDyve, users can gain unlimited access to authoritative research for an affordable price.”
MyScienceWork users can continue to search through millions of articles and abstracts publishers. Through this partnership, they will appear next to items not freely available, with DeepDyve buttons. For only $40 / month or $360 / year (aprox. €36/month or €326/year), the DeepDyve subscribers have instant access to millions of articles from thousands of journals, in full, from their browser.
MyScienceWork operates one of the biggest scientific databases. It has its headquarters in Luxembourg but is a strong presence in Silicon Valley (California, USA). DeepDyve is the largest online rental service for scientific and scholarly research.
