For the second time, the Luxembourg Curling Club organised an international Doubles Cup this past week-end at the ice rink in Kockelscheuer, with Scott Moon and Vincent being triumphant.
This new competition is to be played at the Olympic Games in South-Korea 2018 for the first time with teams comprising one woman and one man. A total of ten teams competed in the tournament, coming from the Netherlands, Germany, France and Luxembourg, which were split into two pools where a Round Robin system was played.
After the Round Robin series had been completed, the team skippered by Grant Davidson and Marco Etienne both qualified directly for the semi-finals as winners of their respective Pools. All the other teams had to go through the repechage games, with the Dutch team of Scott Moon and the Luxembourgish team comprising Ian Munn and Marc Hansen qualifing for the other semi-final.
The first semi-final was won by team Grant Davidson/Yves Sieradzki against Hansen/Munn, by 7-5, while the second semi-final was won by Moon/Vincent against Etienne/Wauters by 9-6. After a hard battle for the championship, the GOLD MEDAL GAME was won by Scott Moon and Vincent by 7-4 against Yves Sieradzki and Grant Davidson.
Marc Hansen and Ian Munn won the Bronze Medal Game against the Luxembourgish Mixed National team composed by Marco Etienne and Karen Wauters, by 9-4.
