The Centre for Research in Economics and Management (CREA) of the University of Luxembourg will be hosting a lunch seminar on Economics on Thursday 3 March 2016 at 13:00, at the Limpertsberg Campus of the University of Luxembourg (room BSC001, Bâtiment des Sciences, 162a avenue de la Faïencerie, L-1511 Luxembourg-Limpertsberg).
The main topic of the seminar will be on the “Macroscopic Origins and Consequences of Economic Inequality: An Evolutionary Perspective”: Fabrizio Germano, Associate Professor in Economics at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, will present a theory of income inequality based on the economic linkages and interactions between individuals in society.
He will present a socio-cultural rationale for the emergence of inequality, its persistence and negative correlation with income and social mobility, and will highlight its role in determining the fragility and robustness of societies.
