With a total of 46,473 vehicles registered in the Grand Duchy last year, 2015 saw a drop in the number of vehicles back to 2013 levels.
The Société nationale de circulation automobile (SNCA) in Sadnweiler today published statistics on vehicles registered during 2015, with a crop of almost 8% in new car registrations, from 49,793 in 2014: this includes 40,237 new cars sold/purchased in Luxembourg plus another 6,236 imported from abroad.
Volkswagen retained its #1 spot in new vehicle sales at 5,873 (down 9%), with BMW in 2nd place with 5,376 (up 12%), Audi in 3rd place with 4,169 (down 14%), Mercedes in 4th place with 3,884 (down 6.5%), Renault in 5th place with 3,811 (down 24%). The largest mover was Jeep increasing its annual sales to 684 vehicles (up 105%).
Another 40,592 second-hand cars were sold/purchased in 2015.
