From 1 January 2016, CETREL, a pioneer and leader in cashless payments in Luxembourg, has been renamed SIX Payment Services.
This change is being accompanied by a new visual identity. Continuity is ensured for customers: people contacts and contracts remain the same.
A subsidiary of SIX Group since 2009
Born from a cooperative of banks in Luxembourg, CETREL has since 2009 been a subsidiary of SIX, a Swiss financial services provider throughout Europe. In late November, SIX Payment Services reached a record one billion "Acquiring" transactions before the Christmas period, representing an increase of 13.55%. SIX Payment Services is the leading cashless payment market in Switzerland, Luxembourg and Austria. The record number of one billion transactions includes payment transactions with debit cards (Maestro and V PAY) and credit cards (MasterCard, VISA, JCB, Diners and China Union Pay) performed especially in Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Poland and Slovenia.
An international presence and a high innovation potential
On 1 January 2016, CETREL entered a new era by becoming SIX Payment Services. The name change stems from a desire ofSIX to strengthen its international presence. The group also wants to benefit from the financial sector and Luxembourg market from its investments in product development and infrastructure. SIX already offers innovative solutions for cashless payments. This last step of its process of integration into SIX will allow CETREL to strengthen its leadership position while maintaining its local roots.
