On Sunday 29 November 2015, a float carrying Saint Nicholas will make its traditional procession through the streets of Luxembourg's capital.
Saint Nicholas will be accompanied on this journey by snowmen, walking trees, a chariot of angels, as well as fictional characters such as Puss in Boots, 'Benjamin Bär', 'Rudi mat der rouder Nies'chen' and 'Hoppelbutz'. The Pétange cheerleading team, a carriage carrying scouts and young firefighters, the 'Tramsmusek' military band and the 'Péitruss Express' transporting gifts and goodies will all help contribute to the festive celebration.
Saint Nicholas will arrive by train at the Gare centrale at 13:30, where he will distribute treats with a musical accompaniement from Big Band Spectrum before continuing along Avenue de la Gare and Rue du Fort Bourbon; Place de Paris where he will visit the market; Avenue de la Liberté to join the 'Cirque de l'Avent' of the Glacis; Place de la Constitution and its Christmas market; Rue Philippe II heading towards Grand-Rue; Rue du Marché-aux-Herbes and Rue de la Reine; before arriving at Place Guillaume II to hand out goody bags before a reception provided in the Town Hall by the Ville de Luxembourg. Here the 'Bouneweger Nuechtigailercher' and the Pétange cheerleaders will provide a musical accompaniment.
