Car racer Rainer Zietlow and Goodyear-Wrangler HP All Weather Tires today embarked on a team drive which will involve an attempt to drive by Volkswagen Touareg from Cape Agulhas in South Africa to Nordkapp in Norway in the short space of ten days.
The event marks the second world record attempt of Zietlow and the team, who last year set the record time of 21 days and 10 hours, having lost 13 days after an unfortunate accident.
Cameraman Marius Biela and CEO of Volkswagen Racing UK, Sam Roach, will join Rainer Zietlow who is no stranger to extreme continent-spanning journeys, holding three 'Guinness World Records' for his expeditions. The team departed from Cape Agulhas today, heading on the 18,000 km route to Nordkapp which will see them pass through 21 countries across Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
