Koalaboox, an online billing solution provider to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), today announced the launch of KoalaFund, a securitisation system incorporated under the laws of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to power the Koalaboox online financing process from August 2015.
Koalaboox is a Belgian company founded in 2012, with a view to establishing an e-invoicing platform for European SMEs through a 'one-click' financing system. The company runs several operations, with offices in Belgium and Germany, and has already created over 240,000 transactions since it began.
"On the one hand, it was essential to support independent companies and SMEs by assisting in the payment of their bills [...] this is therefore why we offer our customers a 'one-click' solution to finance their debts," explained Koalaboox associate, Thierry Benoit.
"On the other hand, we must offer investors profitable and socially responsible revenue in a secure setting," continued Jean-Charles Dwelshauvers. The concept was reportedly originally developed as a solution to situations in Belgium. "Considering that in Belgium, one in three invoices are not paid in time and that late payments are the cause of three out of ten bankruptcies, it became important to react from the moment that banks started supporting fewer and fewer smaller structures."
Koalaboox established KoalaFund based on the company's premise that SMEs form the backbone of the European economy, generating 67% of jobs in the European Union (EU). Frédéric Lodewyk, of Koalaboox, explained it thusly: "Contributing to the support of independent companies and SMEs, means above all investing profitably and healthily [...] the investor creates good around themselves."
KoalaFund aims to provide sustainable financial solutions to Europe, a market it claims is a significant one with over 19 million units totalling 38,629,012 employees generating more than €1.36 million. KoalaFund is dedicated exclusively to acquire credit insured trade receivables.
Lodewyk added: "We have a lot of admiration for these men and women who dream of embarking on a project, and then at some point do not. We developed software such as this investment fund in order to support entrepreneurs and help them grow their projects successfully."
