From Wednesday 16 to Sunday 20 April 2025, Luxembourg hosted the 32nd European Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships at the Coque in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

A total of 346 athletes from 23 countries competed across two age categories – Juniors and Seniors – in the disciplines of Men’s Pairs, Men’s Groups, Women’s Pairs, Women’s Groups and Mixed Pairs, with three sets of medals awarded in each (Dynamic, Balance and All-Around) – totalling 30 sets of medals overall.

In an interview with Chronicle.lu, Silvio Sagramola, General Secretary of the Luxembourg Gymnastics Federation, commented on the importance of hosting such events. “On the one side, we want to show the Luxembourg public – and above all the Luxembourg gymnastics clubs and the gymnasts – the diversity of gymnastics, as this discipline does not yet exist in Luxembourg, at least at competition level. There are some clubs doing it for their galas or other events, but it's not yet existing as a competition event. So, we wanted to show how it works and how attractive it can be, and also to raise awareness for this kind of new discipline coming up,” he said.

Of course, we hope that one or the other club will take it up and try to encourage their gymnasts to practise that discipline. But that will need time because you'll need coaches. [The same with] infrastructure, because many clubs have their halls equipped with artistic gymnastics equipment, so they have the floor that is needed. […] That will take some time. But the intention is to increase the number of gymnastics disciplines practised in Luxembourg,” added Silvio Sagramola.

In the juniors category, Israel topped the medal table, claiming eight gold and six silver medals.
