Luxembourg Lacrosse has announced that the men's national team will participate in the Eurolax Sixes Cup 2025 from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 March 2025 as part of its preparations for the Olympic qualification.

The tournament, featuring six teams, will take place in Vila Real de Santo António, Portugal. Luxembourg will face national teams from Switzerland, France, Armenia, the Netherlands and the host nation, Portugal.

According to a press release, to be "optimally prepared" for the tournament, the team has undergone several intensive training camps in recent months under the guidance of coaches Daniel Miofsky and Sergi Vargas Galitó and already tested itself in February at the tournament in Ghent. There, the team secured two victories and lost two matches. "The tournament in Ghent was perfect for evaluating where the team stands and identifying areas for improvement," stated Coach Miofsky. "The tournament in Portugal is the next big step for us. We have worked hard to take our game to the next level," added Coach Chet Koneczny.

The national team squad consists of twelve players: Robby Hild (Brigham Young, US); Clemens Schusterschitz (Knights, Netherlands); Yves Audrimont (Chur, Switzerland); Alexandre Gianelli (Blacksmiths, Luxembourg); Eric Offermann (Tübingen, Germany); Cullen Bass (Blacksmiths, Luxembourg); Johannes Kirch (Tübingen, Germany); Miguel Fernandez (Lumberjacks, Germany); Hyung Ahn (Hamburg, Germany); Daniël Sterenborg (Ogers, Netherlands); Ferdinand Vogt (Passau, Germany); Brad Swartz (Blacksmiths, Luxembourg).

General manager of Luxembourg Lacrosse, Henning Schmidt, shared: "We have intensified our training, refined tactical details and worked on our physical conditioning. The tournament is a major challenge, but we are excited to compete against the best teams."

Participation in the tournament marks the beginning of an eventful period for Luxembourg Lacrosse. In the coming months, further international competitions and training camps are planned to continuously develop the team. "We are just getting started. Our goal is to put Luxembourg on the European lacrosse map and become competitive in the long term," said team manager Yves Audrimont.

Luxembourg Lacrosse has also announced the founding of the new university club, Dukes Lacrosse, noting that "the sport continues to grow, offering students a new opportunity to actively participate". With Dukes Lacrosse, Luxembourg now has a second lacrosse club, primarily providing students at Lunex University with a platform to learn and compete in the sport. "The establishment of Dukes Lacrosse is a significant step for the future of our sport in Luxembourg. We look forward to training a new generation of players and making lacrosse even more popular," said Sergi Vargas Galitó, founder of the club and fitness coach of the national team.
