Luxembourg's Roads Administration has announced that the new speed camera in the Markusberg tunnel on the A13 will be operational, in a test phase, from Monday 20 September 2021.
As part of the fight against road insecurity, this speed camera, which was installed on the Saar - A13 motorway in June 2021, will enter its test phase later this month.
The speed camera calculates the average speed of vehicles over the entire length of the tunnel (1,575 metres). The maximum authorised speed in tunnels is 90 km / h, or 70 km / h for heavy goods vehicles (max. authorised mass of 7.5 tonnes) travelling to Germany. A tolerance of 3 km / h will be deducted from the calculated speed.
This is the second such speed camera installed in Luxembourg, after the one on the N11, between Waldhof and Gonderange.
During this test phase, no fines will be issued. All photos and other data collected during this phase will be deleted immediately after.
This test phase spans several weeks. Signs announcing the start of the test phase will be displayed in the coming days.
The Roads Administration will communicate the date when the speed camera becomes fully operational in due course.
