Today, Tuesday 21 July 2020, marked the inauguration of a footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists at the Ban de Gasperich in Luxembourg-Cloche d'Or.

Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mobility and Public Works, François Bausch, in the presence of representatives of the City of Luxembourg, the municipality of Hesperange and the National Roads Administration, inaugurated today the footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists at the Ban de Gasperich.

Many people use the P&R Sud every day to then travel on foot or by bicycle / scooter to the Ban de Gasperich. In order to eradicate a dangerous situation for these travellers, the authorities decided to build as quickly as possible a mixed lane on the CR 231 (Boulevard Raiffeisen) between the end of the Ban de Gasperich near the new supermarket and the existing footpath near the Howald roundabout, via the P&R Sud and its extension. The construction of a 36.5-metre-long and 3.15-metre-wide  footbridge that spans the A3 was also a part of this. This is a temporary solution, pending the final redevelopment of Boulevard Raiffeisen. As a result, this mixed lane is not integrated into the national network of cycle paths.

Works began on 20 January 2020 and were completed on 14 July 2020 (with an interruption from mid-March until the end of April). Costs amounted to €1 million excluding VAT (including €250,000 for the gateway).
