On Friday 16 December 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Social Security announced that the costs of psychotherapy sessions would be borne by the state.
This announcement follows the non-conciliation between the National Health Fund (CNS) and the Federation of associations representing psychotherapists in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (Fapsylux). On 12 December 2022, the Minister of Social Security, Claude Haagen, submitted to the Government Cabinet a preliminary draft Grand-Ducal regulation which was adopted on Friday.
This regulation determines the value of such a session, which has been set at €144 for a psychotherapy session of 50 to 60 minutes (for a coefficient of 1).
At the same time, future aspects of psychotherapy will be finalised to be integrated into the nomenclature by means of a Grand-Ducal regulation.
Minister Haagen asked the services of the National Health Fund to finalise the necessary statutory modifications, so that psychotherapy services can be covered by health insurance, once the regulations are in force.
