On Thursday 20 October 2022, Luxembourg's Minister of Education, Children and Youth, Claude Meisch, and the chief executive officer of the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), Ulf Nehrbass, presented on the campus of the People's University in Belval, the book "Precision Health", written by LIH researchers.
Enabling children to discover science and technology and developing their interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) is a priority of the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth. For this reason, the ministry welcomeed the publication of the book “Precision Health”, which it will distribute in December 2022 to all students in training related to the health professions.
What does the future of healthcare look like? Will we be treated by doctors or robots? Will artificial intelligence change the way patients are diagnosed?
According to the ministry, the world is changing rapidly and technology is reshaping the way we move and transforming the fields of medicine and biomedical research. This book takes the readers to the year 2050, where doctors will treat patients based on their digital twins and where health data will be collected by the objects around them. Students will discover how to take part in the healthcare revolution and become a pioneer in precision health.
The researchers of the LIH, who wrote this book, hope to inspire young people to pursue a professional activity in this fascinating field and encourage them to innovate, to redefine the limits of traditional professions and thus to shape the future of “precision health”.
The book is available online in French, English and German via: http://precisionhealth.lu/.
